There's very little I like to say I benefited from when I was a spendaholic before I got married. I bought WAY too much stuff and spent more money than I probably want to admit. But one thing I did purchase that is one of my most valuable possessions today are my Maui Jim sunglasses. They are so light they could literally blow away in a soft breeze if I wasn't careful. And they twist and bend without breaking - great for those kids that just have too much fun with mommy's sunglasses. I've had them for 5 years and while they cost a pretty penny when I got them, they've paid for themselves by now NOT having to buy 4 pairs a year.
But recently, as I was walking into the College World Series, they broke. I was in disbelief. What was I gonna do without my Maui Jim's?! What was I gonna do without sunglasses for that matter?! And now that I was no longer a spendaholic, how was I gonna be able to swallow spending over $250 for a pair of sunglasses? It was truly a day of sorrow.
A day or two later, I stumbled upon a discussion board about how great Maui Jim's repair service was. And it only cost $10 to send my glasses in and see what they could do - why not give it a try? Even though I new they had a 2 year warranty where they'd probably repair it for free, I couldn't excuse the fact that I'd had them for twice that long. So, I sent them in the mail on Saturday, June 20th. The following Wednesday afternoon (that's 5 days later), I get a voicemail from Craig at Maui Jim's. He gives me his direct phone number and says to call him anytime between 3:30 and 11:30. I call him back and he answers, "Aloha, Maui Jim, this is Craig." Wow! No automated phone tree to go through or nothing! He tells me about the repairs needed saying it will cost $55 to replace the bridge that broke. They'd also replace the temples that were damaged for free and if I wanted brand new lens, he'd do it for $30. So quite literally, a new pair of glass for $85, when if I wanted to buy them brand new at the store, it'd be over $250. Talk about a deal! And to top it off, I got a new case for them as well. And just 3 days after I talked to Craig (Saturday), my new glasses arrive in the mail and all is well with the world again.
I think it's safe to say that Maui Jim will have me as a customer for life!
